Pendle Hill in Lancashire, where George Fox found inspiration in 1652
George Fox was a founder of the Religious Society of Friends and was born on an unknown day in July, 1624. Quakers celebrated the 400th anniversary of his birth in 2024.
In 1652 George Fox was inspired to climb Pendle Hill and gained a vision of a new group of worshippers. Many people were drawn to the movement and they became known as Quakers.
'Walk cheerfully over the world, answering that of God in everyone.' (George Fox)
